Cindy Haines, Psy.D received a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University, a Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology of Rutgers University.  She is a New Jersey licensed psychologist.

 

Dr. Haines utilizes a certified clinical canine, Clyde, a large, extremely sensitive Golden Retriever, who tends to be very popular with many of the children and adolescents with whom she works.  She will sometimes share Clyde with some of the therapists to use in their work with young people as well.

 

Dr. Haines is certified to work with "Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors," problems such as Dermatillomania- compulsive skin picking- and Trichotillomania- compulsive hair pulling-  by the Trichotillomania Learning Center  She also heads the Committee on Relations with Educational Institutions for the New Jersey OCD.

 

Previously, Dr. Haines worked as a psychology intern at Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Services where she conducted individual therapy with children, adolescents and adults primarily suffering from mood and anxiety disorders.  She also served rotations with pervasive developmentally disabled children, conducted screenings for DYFS referred foster children, assessed patients in mental health crises and assisted the staff psychiatrist in the diagnosis of mental health disorders in hospitalized patients.

 

Dr. Haines worked at Project Kin in Freehold, counseling foster teenagers with emotional problems.  She also was employed as a Hospice Social Worker providing individual therapy to the patient, as well as children, adolescents and adult family members.  In addition, Dr. Haines facilitated a group for family members of 911 victims, facilitated children’s bereavement groups, a cancer survivors group, grief recovery groups and a behavioral strategies group for intoxicated drivers who had lost their licenses.

 

Throughout Dr. Haines’ graduate training she worked at the GSAPP Psychological Clinic providing individual cognitive- behavioral therapy for students with anxiety and depression.

 

Dr. Haines’ office policies are described in the FAQs link on the Home Page of this website. Her fees for services are $230 for an initial evaluation, and $180 for a 45-minute individual therapy session.
