Mission Statement. To assess, educate, treat, and support those suffering from stress and anxiety disorders in their personal and professional lives.
Philosophy of Treatment. Problems related to anxiety and stress result when the sufferer responds to certain internal and/or external triggers with dysfunctional thinking patterns and the behaviors which follow. Successful treatment involves analysis of distorted cognitions and inappropriate behavioral responses, and the exploration of, and experimentation with, alternative ways to think and behave.
When accompanied by the exploration of:
1) early life relationships and experiences which may have influenced the development of stress-response styles,
2) relaxation training,
3) training in life skills such as personal planning, communication, and assertiveness,
4) development and strengthening of support systems, and
5) assessment for the need of biologically- based interventions (such as medication),
a comprehensive treatment program can be designed and implemented. Treatment is delivered through a client- therapist collaboration, in which the client is an active participant in treatment development and in the inter-session application of skills learned in therapy. Treatment, which may be individual, family, or in group modality, is goal-oriented, solution-focused, and short-term in nature.
