Position available for any psychologist or social worker in the US who is eligible to be licensed in NJ.

Stress & Anxiety Services of New Jersey, LLC is seeking a New Jersey licensed psychologist for immediate opening of a part time to full time clinical position. This position is to provide telehealth services only, with the option of in-person office services if desired. Flexible hours. Weekly peer supervision meeting (required). Pay is based on clients seen (pay is very competitive). No managed care or insurance contracts or related paperwork to worry about. Health insurance available with employee contribution. Matching retirement 401K plan offered after equivalent of one year full time. Student Loan Reimbursement Program available. Opportunity for running online CBT anxiety groups. Requirements include:

  • PSYPACT/APIT or NJ psychology or NJ clinical social worker state license (may apply before NJ license is obtained)

  • Experience with children and adolescents as well as adults

  • STRONG training/experience in working within a CBT framework

  • STRONG familiarity with treating anxiety-related disorders, especially utilizing ERP for the treatment of OCD

  • Experience with BFRBs is a plus

  • Other evidence-based therapy training (DBT/ACT) is a plus.

  • Cannot be on any insurance panels operating in New Jersey

Stress and Anxiety Services of New Jersey (SASNJ) is an independent practice with a clinical staff comprised of licensed psychologists and licensed clinical social workers, as well as post-doc fellows and externs (both of whom work under supervision). We offer primarily individual outpatient therapy, and sometimes groups. Over half our clients are children and adolescents. We have office suites in East Brunswick, NJ and Florham Park, NJ. All clinicians specialize in the cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, and the practice treats these populations almost exclusively. We also now provide telehealth services. Many of our clinicians are regularly involved in OCD New Jersey, an affiliate of the IOCDF.

In addition to treating these disorders in person, our entire staff has been trained and certified by the Telebehavioral Institute, one of the premier organizations in the country for training and certifying expertise in providing clinical services over the Internet.

Our specialty is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Most of our licensed clinical staff is BTTI trained, which is the training arm of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Given that we also work with BFRBs such as Trichotillomania and Excoriation disorder, all of our licensed clinicians have been certified by the TLC Foundation for the treatment of BFRBs. In addition, several of our clinicians are trained in Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for the treatment of PTSD. We accept no insurance payments and are on no managed cared panels. We all meet weekly for formal administrative and clinical review.

Postdocs: Train with us in the Fall of 2024!

Stress and Anxiety Services of New Jersey, LLC (SASNJ) is currently accepting applications for a full time, one-year, postdoctoral clinical fellowship training position for the Fall of 2024. This fellowship will focus on providing empirically supported treatments for OCD, PTSD, BRFB’s, and Anxiety Disorders. Postdoctoral fellows will complete assigned trainings and receive supervision in these areas. 

Learning Objectives, training goals: 

  1. Acquire clinical skills and professional development necessary to become independent practitioners.

  2. Developing skills in identifying and providing empirically supported treatments for clients who have OCD.

  3. Development of skills in at least one additional area such as PTSD, BFRBs, panic disorder, or specific phobia such as social phobia.

Description:

This is a full-time fellowship. Fellows will work with children, adolescents and adults. Conducting group therapy may also be part of the clinical experience provided. The work week includes a required 20 hours of client contact; administrative tasks around client sessions such as charting, preparing for sessions, clinical contacts, supervision hours, staff meeting, training in house and out, and special projects. Actual schedules may be flexible other than required meetings, supervision, and training; however, there are minimum requirements to be available to see some clients after school or work hours. 

Fully remote work options may be available depending on the guidelines and restrictions as outlined by the NJ Board of Psychological Examiners at the start of the fellowship or the Board of Postdoctoral Fellow's state. Hybrid work options are also available and encouraged.

The Fellow will receive 2 hours of weekly-individual supervision and are expected to carry a caseload with a minimum of 20 clients a week who will be seen. A caseload over 20 clients a week may be arranged, depending on the interests of the Fellow. Fellows also attend a weekly staff meeting including group consultation of cases. In addition to one-on-one therapy services, the Fellow will be trained in our intake procedures, and will serve as one of the backups for our Intake Coordinator. This involves conducting phone intake interviews of prospective clients and contributing to the case assignment process. In addition, the Fellow will be asked to provide one case presentation to the staff during their fellowship year. Fellows will complete assigned trainings to include: webinars, readings and virtual trainings in OCD, PTSD, BFRBs, and Anxiety Disorders.  

Pay:

Postdoc Fellows receive a generous starting salary while they build up their caseload. Once the Fellow has established a minimum caseload, Fellows receive $75 a session. At 20 sessions a week over 48 weeks, plus one week paid sick time, this is approximately $73,500 annually. If approved by administration, additional client hours may be scheduled for increased compensation, but these hours will not count additionally to the totals you would submit for licensure, per NJ licensing rules.

Stress & Anxiety Services of New Jersey, LLC (SAS of NJ), is a premier independent clinic serving children, adolescents and adults. SAS of NJ is well known and respected throughout the state and beyond as a clinical practice specializing in the application of empirically supported therapies targeting the treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD spectrum disorders, and PTSD. Nearly all 15 clinicians on staff are New Jersey licensed psychologists, and most are certified by the Behavior Therapy Training Institute, (BTTI) the training arm of the International OCD Foundation, (IOCDF) as well as being certified by the Trichotillomania Learning Center for the treatment of body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Some members of our staff also have training in Prolonged Exposure therapy (PE) for PTSD and have obtained provider status in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). One staff member is a CPT Trainer/Consultant. SASNJ is recognized by the IOCDF as an Institutional Member, specializing in the treatment of OCD. Several of our clinicians serve on the Board of Directors of OCD New Jersey (OCDNJ), a recognized affiliate of the IOCDF, and our Executive Director is Co-founder and served for over a decade as President of OCDNJ. Several of our staff members also have Supervisory appointments at Rutgers University. 

Requirements

  • U.S. citizens who have completed a doctoral program and internship in clinical, counseling, or school psychology, APA approved preferred 

  • Doctoral requirements must be completed prior to beginning the fellowship 

  • Securing a NJ Temporary Permit is required prior to beginning the fellowship 

  • Cognitive Behavioral theoretical orientation 

  • Experience working with anxiety disorders, OCD experience preferred 

  • At least some experience in working with children and adolescents.
